The Power of the Oreo

Maya was having a really tough day the other day. She's getting some new teeth and nothing we could do would help her settle down. We tried going outside, giving the teething medicine, ibuprofen, dancing, singing, offerings of peaches, graham crackers, sippy cup, toys... Nothing was working until the OREO. I handed her an Oreo and she gladly exchanged the three graham crackers in her hands for that one yummy cookie. She instanly stopped crying. She just held it in her hand for five minutes. Then she stuck the whole thing in her mouth and held it there with half of it sticking out. Once it started getting soggy she gobbled it up. What a mess, but hey, she was happy.
Don't I look stunning with Oreo all over my face and dress?

In the mornings when I drop Maya off at Amanda's house she always sees me to the door, and this is the last glimpse I have of her as I drive away: a happy little face pressed up to the glass saying bye-bye Mama. I finally had my camera with me the other day and got this sweet little angel picture.

Here is the little hand.

We went to the State NFB convention this weekend in Salt Lake City. I think here she is applauding Rep. Jim Matheson. She was having a great time clapping along with everyone and getting all the attention from everyone who thinks she is a stinkin cute princess. What a doll, I know.
The funniest thing she has been doing the last couple of days is that she has abandoned the word, "mama" in exchange for my first name. All weekend it has been, "Mahgee, mahgee." What a smartie!

The Princess and the Frog

Isn't this the sweetest picture in the universe? She's my little princess/frog.
